St. Catherine U security officer wounded; cops say no threat to public

Police rushed to the St. Paul campus Tuesday night after an unarmed campus security guard was reported shot in the shoulder. Authorities searched overnight for a shooter. By mid-morning Wednesday, however, police said there is no public safety concern.

BCA finishes Ruszczyk probe, sends case to Hennepin Co. attorney

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Tuesday it completed its investigation into the shooting of 911 caller Justine Ruszczyk by a Minneapolis police officer. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman will now consider whether to charge the officer.

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office said Wayzata police officer William Mathews was about to walk back to his patrol car after removing a piece of metal from Highway 12 Friday when Beth Freeman struck and killed him.
