UNHCR says that more than 1,300 people have disappeared and are believed to have died this year while crossing the Mediterranean from North Africa to Italy, and some 43,000 migrants and asylum-seekers reached Italy.
Investigators are examining the site of a large swamp fire near Maple Plain which closed Highway 12 Sunday evening. Officials say that fire conditions are not as bad as last year, but there is still danger.
The body has not been officially identified, but searchers had been looking for a missing University of Minnesota student who reportedly slipped in the river in late April.
Officials say 30 children went to the hospital. Most had minor bruises and cuts. Five with more serious injuries were taken by ambulance and one was air lifted. None of the injuries appear to be critical.
The Ham Lake Fire started 10 years ago Friday. It burned more than 75,000 acres and destroyed over 100 structures, including many longtime family cabins. But the forest, and the people, are recovering.
The Canton Fire Department said authorities did not have an exact count on the number of people killed by the weather, and told reporters late Saturday numbers were "still coming in."
