Just off Highway 10, an three and a half hours north of the Twin Cities, enormous wooden trolls roam a sculpture garden in Detroit Lakes. They’re pieces by the Danish sculpture artist Thomas Dambo, and one comes with a message for the people of Minnesota.

More Minnesota communities consider banning fruity vapes as Trump’s FDA loosens restrictions

Over a quarter of Minnesotans live in cities or counties that have restricted the sale of some flavored tobacco and nicotine products. Communities are taking action, arguing cotton candy, mango and other sweet flavored vapes are targeting kids. Despite this push at the local level, the FDA announced this month that it will allow a vape company to sell new fruit-flavored e-cigarettes.

Moorhead police arrested the parents of a student who brought candy to school that police believe contained THC, the compound in cannabis that gets people high. Two students were sent to a medical facility after consuming the candy, and 10 other students were sent home.
