Gov. Walz not closing door on VP nod; Sen. Mitchell ethics hearing pushed back again

Gov. Tim Walz says he’s happy with his current job, but says he’ll “listen to her” if Vice President Kamala Harris comes to him looking for a running mate. A state Senate ethics committee has postponed another hearing into DFL Senator Nicole Mitchell's felony burglary charge. The hearing scheduled for Thursday has been pushed off to a later date.

Democratic Congresswoman Betty McCollum is asking that President Joe Biden withdraw his bid for re-election. In a statement, McCollum calls on Biden to step aside and Vice President Kamala Harris to run in his place. The longtime representative for the east Twin Cities metro said Harris should choose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.

Global internet outage impacts flights in Minnesota. Trump closes out RNC

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport reported several dozen delayed or canceled flights Friday morning amid a global internet outage. Delta, Sun Country, Allegiant, United and American are among the airlines affected by the outage. And former President Trump closed out the Republican National Convention on Thursday night in Wisconsin.

As the RNC comes to a close in Milwaukee, local Democratic leaders say they haven’t heard of a behind the scenes campaign to pressure their candidate, President Joe Biden to step down. And the Minneapolis City Council has approved a contract with the police union that will provide a more than 21 percent pay increase over the next three years.
