Trump gets RNC presidential nomination. Minneapolis park workers strike continues

Minnesota delegates to the Republican National Convention joined in the unanimous roll-call vote Monday to nominate Donald Trump for president. And as of Tuesday morning, the Minneapolis park workers continued to strike after negotiations Monday.

RNC starts today; power outage update in Minnesota

The Republican National Convention started today in Milwaukee. Reporter Mark Zdechlik spoke with some members of Minnesota delegation as they prepared for a bus ride to the area which is several miles from their hotel. And Xcel Energy officials say power should be fully restored by the end of the day today.

Hot weekend in Minnesota; Boundary Waters land sale

The heat and humidity will keep building in Minnesota through the weekend. And the state DNR is proposing to sell 80,000 acres of lands within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to the U.S. Forest Service. DNR officials say proceeds from the sale will benefit public education in the state.

Trooper charged in fatal crash had prior suspensions, reprimands for earlier crashes

The state trooper charged with killing a woman during a high-speed chase in May had been suspended twice previously for crashing his squad car and received written reprimands for two other crashes. And the Stearns County sheriff says advanced DNA technology helped track down the parents of a newborn baby whose remains were found in a roadside ditch more than 40 years ago.

Minneapolis park workers continue strike. Dozens charged for rioting during fireworks on July Fourth

A strike by Minneapolis park workers continues. A week-long walkout was supposed to end Thursday. And the Hennepin County Attorney's Office has charged some two dozen people with felony rioting for allegedly shooting fireworks at others — including police — on July Fourth.

Walz stands by Biden; BCA releases details in Crookston fatal shooting

Democratic Gov. Tim Walz continues to stand by President Joe Biden as his party's presidential nominee. That's as congressional Democrats continue to raise concerns that he will lose in November and impact down-ballot races. And the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension identified three officers involved in the fatal shooting of a man in Crookston last month.

State trooper faces felony charges in Rochester crash. Duluth pitches new misdemeanors

Olmsted County prosecutors have charged a Minnesota state trooper with manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide in connection with a fatal crash in Rochester. And Duluth officials want to create several new misdemeanor-level crimes in the city, including a ban on camping on city property.

Animal Humane Society gets rid of free spay and neuter program
