Matt Blair, star linebacker for Vikings, dies at 70

The Minnesota Vikings say Matt Blair, one of the great linebackers in team history, has died. Drafted in the second round out of Iowa State in 1974, Blair played all 12 of his NFL seasons for the Vikings, from 1974 to 1985.

NHL cancels 2021 Minnesota Winter Classic, All-Star Weekend

Legendary Minnesota sports journalist Sid Hartman dies at age 100

Sid Hartman, who chronicled Minnesota sports for decades for the Star Tribune and WCCO radio, has died at age 100. Hartman's son, Chad, tweeted Sunday afternoon that "my father’s extraordinary and resilient life has come to a peaceful conclusion surrounded by his family."

Falcons — Vikings' opponent Sunday — close facility after positive COVID test

The Atlanta Falcons have closed their team facility in Georgia due to at least one confirmed case of COVID-19, just days before the team is scheduled to play in Minneapolis. An NFL spokesperson told the NFL Network there is no change to the game at this time.
