Steamy summer forecast: Outlooks favor a hotter than average summer
Saturday’s heat may be a preview of coming attractions this summer.
NOAA’s seasonal outlook products strongly favor warmer (hotter) than average temperatures this summer across Minnesota and much of the United States.
The new one-month outlook for June issued Thursday by NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center favors warmer than average temperatures from the southwest into Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.
The average high and low temperatures for the Twin Cities peak in mid-July at 84 and 65 degrees.
NOAA’s three-month precipitation outlook projects equal chances for above or below average summer precipitation across the Midwest. The trends favor wetter than average weather in the east and drier than average weather in the Rocky Mountain region.
The early signs point to a mostly toasty summer in Minnesota.
