Widespread rains concluded the week with frost creeping across the majority of the state. About sixty percent of Minnesota reported frost over the past week with many climate stations reporting temperatures just below freezing in the early morning.

Rains will pick up into the weekend, delaying crop harvesting for farmers but hopefully taking some edge off of the drought monitor, which reads that a third of Minnesota is seeing moderate drought and 40 percent is in the extreme range.

MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with retired meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley about the frosty weather during the 2023 fall member drive.
