August recap: Minnesota mostly on average in terms of heat and rain

For the first time in a while, weather temperatures across Minnesota evened out to pretty average month.
“The state will record near-average August temperature when they add up for all 31 days,” said climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley. “There’ll be a few spots that are maybe one degree warmer than normal.”
Considering strings of “warmer than average” to “wetter than normal” headlines for previous months, August seems to be veering from that trend. That doesn’t mean the month wasn’t without its extremes.
“We had 95 [degrees Fahrenheit] up at Red Lake Falls on Aug. 9, and we had 32 [degrees]— we had freezing at Goodridge up in Pennington County earlier this week,” Seeley said.
