With lots of sunshine and southern winds, September quickly took on a warmer-than-average stride.
“It looks like we'll end the month anywhere from two to five degrees [Fahrenheit] warmer than normal,” said climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley.
The beginning of the month saw temperatures below freezing in places like Brimson and Hibbing, in northeastern Minnesota. Temperatures there dipped to 29 degrees.
Days later in Fairmont and Worthington, miles from the northern Iowa border, temperatures reached 94 degrees.
