October finished out warmer than average, making it the fifth year in a row for the fall month.
“In fact, this one, statewide, will probably chalk up, is about the eighth warmest in state history,” said climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley.
The first week of the month saw plenty of temperatures over 90 degrees Fahrenheit. However, in stark contrast, toward the end of the month, frost swept over the state. Extremes ranged from 94 degrees on Oct. 3 in south central Minnesota and 16 degrees on Oct. 24 in Brimson, northeast of Duluth.
