After a warm spell, below-freezing temperatures have gripped the state. Many locales in northern Minnesota are reporting 10 to 12 degrees Fahrenheit below freezing.
“The mid-week warm spell was something I think everybody enjoyed seeing,” climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley said.
A deep low-pressure system brought in powerful winds creating blizzard conditions in Wilkin County and up to Kittson and Roseau counties on Thursday. Wind gusts were also well over 40 m.p.h. in much of the state, making visibility and driving difficult.
