The middle of March was a battle zone for wild weather. Two winter storms clutched the state, with the first bringing winds of over 60 mph to some residents and the second bringing 6 to 18 inches of snow to others.
“Almost too many snowfall records to tally for the listeners,” climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley said.
Some of those records include 71 mph winds at Redwood Falls (the second-highest March wind gust ever at that location) during that first storm on March 12-13. And there were reports of 20 inches of snow in a couple places in Wabasha County during the second storm between March 14-16.
Spring officially began Friday and Minnesota will reflect that with a sharp rise in temperatures moving into Saturday.
