St. Paul is center stage for the third iteration of “No Kings” rallies on Saturday, which organizers expect to be the largest, single day of nonviolent protest in U.S. history. 

Over 3,200 events are scheduled in every U.S. state — and most continents — to demonstrate against the Trump administration. About 100 events are planned in Minnesota alone.  

Rebecca Larson, co-leader of Indivisible Twin Cities, said Minnesota was chosen for the national flagship event because of activism during the federal immigration enforcement surge in recent months. 

“Minnesotans have really shown the rest of the world how people-powered movements can win and push back against wannabe kings. We want to tell our stories to the rest of the country and the rest of the world,” Larson said.

 drew tens of thousands of people in the Twin Cities. The Saturday event in St. Paul is expected to be the largest yet. 

On a national press call Thursday, organizers said more people from rural or Republican districts nationwide will take part in rallies Saturday. They cited the war on Iran, rising living costs and federal immigration enforcement as contributing to mounting sentiment against President Donald Trump. 

Organizers also referred to the deaths of Minnesotans Renee Macklin Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of federal agents.

“The Trump administration has become a threat to the American people at every level. They are waging violence at home and abroad,” said Katie Bethell, executive director of MoveOn. 

“Silence and inaction are not an option anymore,” said Edwin Torres DeSantiago, who leads the Immigrant Defense Network in Minnesota. “Millions of people across this country will come together to say, ‘Enough.’ Enough fear, enough harm, enough abuse of power.” 

The St. Paul event begins with three marches at noon, which converge at the State Capitol around 2 p.m. for the flagship rally.
