Portions of southern Minnesota and the southwestern part of the Twin Cities metro area are in a severe thunderstorm watch until 5 a.m. Sunday. Southwestern Minnesota remains in a severe thunderstorm watch until 1 a.m. Sunday.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to spread across much of Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin as we go through Saturday evening and the overnight hours of Saturday night. A few severe thunderstorms will be possible.
Alaska records its warmest month ever; future records likely
Alaska has been America's canary in the coal mine for climate warming, and the yellow bird is swooning. July was Alaska's warmest month ever, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Most of Minnesota will enjoy beautiful summer weather this Saturday, with some thunderstorms possible in the northwest Saturday afternoon. Thunderstorms spread across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin as we go through the evening and overnight hours, with some severe thunderstorms possible.
Pleasant Thursday before storms later; muggier days coming
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will build eastward across northern Minnesota on Thursday. Other storms will grow into western Minnesota during the afternoon and track toward the Twin Cities by evening. Hotter, much muggier weather will arrive by Monday.
