Winter solstice arrives with chilly temperatures
The first day of winter brings chilly temperatures in the teens, along with some early Saturday morning sunshine for the Twin Cities. Expect calm conditions throughout the weekend. A quickly moving clipper system arrives late Sunday night, bringing light snow showers.
Frosty winter solstice ahead
The winter solstice on Saturday will mark the end of our shorter, darker days. Friday will bring bright, arctic sunshine, with a calm weekend ahead. Light snow showers are expected late Sunday into Monday. Temperatures will rise above freezing for the holiday week.
Chilly Friday and Saturday, then a mild week ahead
Chilly air has settled into place in the wake of Thursday’s snowfall. Temperatures will be below normal Friday and Saturday, but next week brings above-freezing temperatures.  
How much snow has fallen in Minnesota?
A quick burst of snow has painted our brown landscape into a winter wonderland. The clipper system will keep moving southeast. After a brief lull in snowfall, wraparound snow showers may bring another 1 to 2 inches along with blowing winds.
Snow continues Thursday; chillier Friday and Saturday
Snow will continue much of Thursday for most of the state with the heaviest falling in the morning hours. Colder air moves in Thursday night before milder air returns next week. 
Season's biggest snowfall so far likely Thursday
Forecast models continue to lay out a wide zone of 3 to 7 inches of snow across most of central Minnesota, including the Twin Cities. It still looks like there will be a sharp cutoff with lower snowfall totals south of the Twin Cities.
Cooler Wednesday ahead of snow Thursday
Enjoy a dry day with a mix of clouds and sun Wednesday. It will be cooler than the last couple of days. Snow develops late Wednesday night into Thursday for much of the state.
