Minnesota lawmaker shootings

Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were fatally shot on June 14, 2025, in their Brooklyn Park home, and Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were wounded at their Champlin residence in a series of politically motivated attacks allegedly carried out by Vance Boelter.

Vance Boelter made another brief appearance in a St. Paul federal courtroom Thursday, where he waived his right to the hearings that had been scheduled. Boelter is charged with killing former DFL House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark.
