Vice President visits Minneapolis; Oil spill in Duluth harbor

Vice President JD Vance came to Minnesota today to meet with some families affected by last week's shooting at Annunciation Church and School. The U.S. Coast Guard says it responded yesterday to a spill of up to 30 gallons of oil in the Duluth harbor. A city council meeting last night in Harwood, North Dakota, near Fargo, got heated over a proposed AI Data Center.

Vice President JD Vance plans to visit Minneapolis Wednesday. The plans were announced in a statement released by the White House Tuesday night. The Vice President will pay respects to victims of the Annunciation Catholic Church shooting. He's expected to hold a series of private meetings with families affected by the shooting.

Mayors call for gun restrictions; Schools prioritize safety in wake of shootings

The mayors of Minneapolis and St. Paul are calling on Governor Tim Walz to schedule a special session where gun restrictions would be considered. And as school started in many locations in the metro today, Minneapolis police have increased patrols around schools and places of worship. St. Paul's police department offered extra police presence to all public and private schools in that city. A new program in St. Cloud will provide free school supplies to some students this year.

Two children shot and killed at Annunciation Catholic School have been named

We've learned the names of the two children who were shot and killed at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Ten-year-old Harper Moyski was shot while sitting in a pew for a school Mass. Her family described her as 'bright, joyful and deeply loved.' The other child was 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel. His father Jesse addressed the media, saying his son loved his family and friends, fishing, cooking and sports.

Thousands of people gathered at vigils last night to remember and pray for the victims of the shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis. Two children were killed and 17 others were injured in the shooting, which happened during a morning Mass marking the first week of school. The shooter was outside and shot through a church window.
