The Warming House

The Great Minnesota Burger Bracket has come to a close. Starting at the end of February we sought out guidance for the greatest burgers all across Minnesota. We received over 200 entries and identified 101 different burger spots. After dividing them up geographically and running some sesame seeding rounds, we arrived at the Elite 8 Burger Plate. They went head to head throughout March.

Finally, we have crowned the winner: The Rusty Nail in Battle Lake! Congratulations on your win, your wonderful fans and delicious burgers!

And thanks to everyone who voted and spread the word for their favorites, because really, if even one person learned about a new favorite burger joint because of this, we’re all winners.

Welcome to The Warming House.

Ep. 9: Our Super Bowl halftime show
Tom Brady and a whole bunch of other people were playing a game of sportsball at exactly the same time as we gathered, socially-distanced, in The Warming House to launch a friendly debate about the best halftime show ever.
Ep. 8: A pre-Super Bowl, pre-Valentine's Day potluck
We’re waxing nostalgic this week in The Warming House — remembering how wonderful it is to walk through art museums and hang out with friends, and how that’s changed since the Before Times. We also heard from a pair of pizza delivery pros and a two women organizing a massive mask-sewing effort.
Getting to know The Warming House
The Warming House co-hosts joined the program to talk about their new show, shared their favorite interviews and even played a round of trivia with MPR News host Angela Davis.
Ep. 7: Our ode to winter weather
After a rough start, 2021 delivered a pretty good week! Our country swore in the first Black, Indian American woman as vice president. It was historic and optimistic and just the shot in the arm we all needed to pull this new year out of the ditch.
Ep. 6: Cooling down and pressing on
We covered a lot of ground this week in The Warming House. Starting on a cool note Waxahatchee's album "St. Cloud," gathering essential advice from Sanni Brown on homeschooling, talking about furry friends with The Uptown Veterinarian and getting a much needed Silver Lining from the executive director of The Warming House music venue in Minneapolis, Brianna Lane — who played live! Remember live music?
Ep. 5: Looking back and looking forward
Welp. We made it. It's 2021 in The Warming House, and everywhere else for that matter. We look back at a few greats we lost in 2020, explore some “steady” classic country, how to pick the perfect glasses-friendly masks, and a little “jerk” trivia.
Ep. 4: Bring it on 2021!
Welcome to the Warming House's New Year's Eve-eve-eve-eve-eve-eve Special, featuring a vinyl pick to fuel “a perfect party,” a heart warming Silver Lining story, plus, the crew has got you covered from "Advice-ology" to "Mix-ology.”
Ep. 3: A Christmas special to spread holiday cheer
Welcome to the Warming House's first Christmas special, featuring Minnesota’s own Emmy Award-winning Louie Anderson’s special reading, our weekly relationship advice segment, holiday edition, with The Current’s Sanni Brown, a list of holiday lights displays across Minnesota and more!
Ep. 2: Some hope and fun for holidays 2020
This week's mellow vinyl pick, by co-host Sean McPherson and Brittany Lind from The Current's Duluth outpost was Nick Drake's 1972 album "Pink Moon." Plus, our Silver Lining Story for this episode was about a couple taking on food insecurity this holiday season. Co-host Nina Moini talked about the dire situation with Shawn and Jamie Morrison of nonprofit "Good in the 'Hood."
EP 1: Twin Cities' mayors team up
Welcome to The Warming House, an hour of music, games and conversation. Hosts Sean McPherson and Nina Moini kicked off our inaugural episode with some Donny Hathaway classics, and stumped the mayors of St. Paul and Minneapolis in a tough round of trivia.
