With October starting off so warm, the cold temperatures taking over the weekend won’t be enough to totally off-set the average monthly temperature. MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with retired meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley about the wide weather swings in their weekly weather chat.
We have the coldest air since April in place. Look for scattered rain showers Friday and blustery northwest winds at 15 to 25 mph. The weekend will be mainly dry with a little more sun.
Friday will be quite the shock with cold temperatures, wind and occasional spotty rain showers. Saturday will remain chilly but with less wind and more sunshine.
Thursday will be windy with sunshine in southern Minnesota while northern Minnesota sees scattered showers develop. Cooler air moves in for Friday, touching off more showers.
Thursday will be seasonably cool and windy with clouds and some showers north while southern Minnesota sees more sun. Friday will bring colder air and spotty showers statewide.
Tuesday marked the fourth consecutive day in the 80s but is it the last, climatologically? Look for much cooler air and more possible showers Thursday and Friday.
