Minnesota enjoys a quiet respite this week. Next week could bring the season’s first subzero air to the Twin Cities.
December bright spot: Sunsets start moving later on Dec. 15
The shortest daylight arrives on Dec. 21. But our sunsets in Minnesota start getting later again before the winter solstice.
This past weekend’s massive snowstorm brought many parts of Northern Minnesota over a foot of snow, and the Duluth area saw almost 2 feet of snow plus blizzard conditions.
Monday will be the coldest day of this work week, then temps rebound a bit. Thankfully, it’s still looking like a storm-free week. We have a recap of some incredible snow totals from the weekend storm.
The last wave of snow from our weekend winter storm will move through the Twin Cities metro area and southeastern Minnesota as we go from mid afternoon into late afternoon/early Sunday evening.

Fierce winds and heavy snow continue this Sunday morning in Duluth. Periods of snow will linger into early afternoon across eastern Minnesota and until later this afternoon in Wisconsin. The week ahead looks quieter.
