Pope Francis has recorded an audio greeting from the hospital to thank people for their prayers as he continues his recovery from double pneumonia. The audio was recorded for the evening Rosary prayer in St. Peter’s Square.

Pope Francis is resting after sleeping through the night with a ventilation mask as he undergoes hospital treatment for double pneumonia. In its latest update, the Vatican said on Wednesday that the pope rested well overnight, waking up shortly after 8 a.m. Pope Francis remains in stable condition, with a guarded prognosis, meaning he was not out of danger.

The Vatican says that Pope Francis has stabilized enough after two respiratory crises to resume using a nasal tube for oxygen, rather than a ventilation mask. The 88-year-old pope has pneumonia and had part of one lung removed as a young man. The Vatican said he woke up Tuesday after sleeping through the night.
