A heat advisory is posted for the Twin Cities for Monday afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the mid-90s south with spotty storms possible later Monday. More widespread storms are possible Tuesday.
Monday and Tuesday will be hot and muggy with thunderstorm chances. Severe weather is possible along with locally heavy rainfall with cooler temps moving in midweek.
The National Weather Service warned flooding could be "life-threatening," with numerous impassable roads, overflowing creeks and streams and flooded basements across the Chicago area.
Hot weather will continue through Sunday and into Monday. Storm chances will build by Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will become likely for much of Minnesota Monday night and Tuesday.
