Heavy snow for northern Minnesota into Friday; rain, snow showers south
A wintry blast of heavy snow and strong winds will spread into northern Minnesota Thursday afternoon and linger into Friday. We have an update on snow totals plus the rain elsewhere in Minnesota that will transition to flakes by Friday.
Duluth breaks all-time record for season snowfall at 137.1 inches
The Weather Service said the latest measurable snow ever in Duluth was on May 28, back in 1965. The official snow measurement season doesn't close until the end of June.

Rain, ice and snow continue to rotate around our slow moving storm system Thursday. Snow accumulations will be confined to the northern half of Minnesota with mainly rain showers south. More snow showers, mixed with rain, south will persist into Friday.

Waves of moisture into Friday; snow for northern Minnesota
The first of multiple rounds of precipitation is moving across the region. We’ll see somewhat of a midday break before more showers develop in southern Minnesota and fill in, moving north. A wintry mix will become mostly snow in northern Minnesota Thursday.
