Spring flood risk rises to 'well above average' after heavy snow season
Frequent snow and high water content are boosting flood risk across Minnesota and Wisconsin. Thursday’s updated spring flood outlook suggests people near vulnerable flood zones should prepare for the possibility of moderate to major flooding this spring.
Weekend weather: Snow Saturday; highs in the 30s
We’re in a snowy weather pattern. Our snowy streak continues on Saturday, with patchy areas of snow also possible on Sunday.
Snowfall picks up Thursday afternoon into the overnight; more snow Saturday
Snowfall intensity will increase into Thursday night. The most significant accumulations will be across far southeastern Minnesota where 4 to 7 inches could fall. Another round of snow accumulation moves across the state late Saturday.
Scattered snow showers Wednesday; main snow late Thursday, more Saturday
An area of scattered snow showers will spread east Wednesday with relatively light accumulations. Heavier snow develops Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. We have more snow late Saturday.
Snow showers expand east Wednesday; significant snow develops late Thursday
The first wave of less significant, scattered snow showers will expand east Wednesday across Minnesota. The potential heavier snowfall develops late Thursday through Thursday night. More snow is possible Saturday night.
Winter storm watch Thursday includes the Twin Cities
The latest models show a faster system with a track shifted southward. A faster system would reduce the duration of snow across Minnesota. The more southerly storm track would focus the heaviest snow across southeastern Minnesota, generally south of the Twin Cities area.
A quiet Tuesday before the next winter storm moves into Minnesota
We have a dry, quiet Tuesday with seasonable temperatures for the most part. Northwestern Minnesota will be colder. A winter storm watch goes into effect late Thursday into early Friday with a winter weather advisory Tuesday night into Wednesday northwest.
