 Storm put Twin Cities within reach of Top 10 snowiest winter
This latest snow blitz puts the Twin Cities at 73.5 inches so far this season, less than 5 inches shy of the Top 10 snowiest winters on record — and it’s still February. The region is a little more than 2 feet from the all-time record of 98.6 inches set in 1983-84.
Friday's cold but weekend temps rebound; snowfall tallies updated
Parts of northern Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see more accumulating snow through much of Thursday afternoon. Temps will plummet Thursday night into Friday. Forecast highs will reach the 30s on Sunday in many areas, including the Twin Cities.
Snow ebbs; subzero temps overnight; 20s-30s by Sunday
Snow showers are winding down midmorning Thursday and will taper off and lift north and northeast through the day. Winds will also lighten up through the afternoon with cold temps settling in Thursday night.
Blizzard winds, heavy snow set to whack southern Minnesota overnight
Weather models show the heaviest snowfall moving across Minnesota between about 10 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday. Current forecasts call for another 8-11 inches for much of the Twin Cities region.
The worst snow and wind still lie ahead Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Most of southern Minnesota will see another 9 to 15 inches of snow by midday Thursday. Thursday morning’s commute looks nearly impossible for much of Minnesota.
Snow, it's not over: Storm set to drop another foot on southern Minnesota
The first round of snow will dwindle to a bit of a midday break before more significant snow develops late Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday. Many areas will receive over a foot of additional snowfall.
Blizzard warnings widen into Twin Cities metro; travel may be 'impossible'
Wright, Carver and Scott Counties have been added to the blizzard warning zone. The Twin Cities National Weather Service office is warning the storm “should lead to impossible travel” by Wednesday night and early Thursday.
Heavy snow starts in SW Minnesota; 3-7 inches expected in storm's first wave
Expect slippery roads from the afternoon rush hours Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Many locations may see a lull, or even a brief break in snowfall Wednesday morning before the second, bigger snow wave arrives.
