Weekend weather: Rain, snow, wintry mix on Saturday
Stay updated on forecasts this weekend, since a wintry mix of freezing drizzle, sleet, freezing rain and snow may slick up some roads in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
Chilly Thursday, mild Friday; snow, rain, freezing rain set for weekend
Temperatures will be on the cool side of normal all day Thursday in Minnesota, mainly 20s in the south and teens north. A chilly Thursday night gives way to a warmup Friday. A mixed bag of sleet, freezing rain, rain and snow moves in late Friday night into the weekend.
Cooler Thursday; wintry mix Friday night with thunder Saturday?
It’s a chilly start early Thursday with the northern half of Minnesota below zero and teens in the south. We’ll see subfreezing highs statewide Thursday; 20s south, teens north. Friday will be warmer. Expect 30s to near 40 in the south and 20s north.
Quiet through Friday, then wet and sloppy
Heavy snow still looks likely from western through northern Minnesota this weekend.

It looks like a messy March weekend across much of Minnesota.
Mild Wednesday, cooler Thursday; Saturday storm set to bring rain, snow
Minnesota temperatures will again be relatively mild: 30s south and 20s north. A Saturday storm looks to be mostly rain for the Twin Cities, but a band of heavy snow may fall on the cold side of this system from west-central to northeastern Minnesota.
Wintry mix early Wednesday; bigger storm Saturday
Temperatures are just below freezing early Wednesday morning. There are scattered light snow showers, mixed with some light freezing rain so watch out for some potential brief slick spots on untreated surfaces. We’ll see highs today above freezing again for the southern half of Minnesota, 20s north.

Our first day of March felt a little like spring. We hit 41 degrees in the Twin Cities Tuesday afternoon. That’s the first back-to-back 40 degree days in the Twin Cities since mid-December.
Messy weekend storm on the way: Rain, snow, ice likely
A March storm will bring a mixed bag of precipitation types from late Friday night into Sunday. The locations of the heaviest snow bands are still uncertain, but there are some distinct trends as of Tuesday.
Mild Tuesday; wintry mix early Wednesday
Expect high temperatures Tuesday in the 30s to near 40 in southern Minnesota and 20s in the north. Overnight into Wednesday we’ll see a possible wintry mix of precipitation sweep across central Minnesota.
