Hotter weather returns through Thursday, along with a storm system that may bring severe weather. Seasonably warm weather settles in by the weekend, plus another chance for needed rain.
Following a seasonable start, temperatures heat up once more on Wednesday, with a chance for strong storms by the evening.
After another dry and sunny day Tuesday, Minnesota finally sees a chance for needed rain midweek, but it comes along with a risk for severe weather.
Much of Minnesota will see seasonable mid-June temperatures on Tuesday, something that has been rare with the heat so far this month.
Drought severity increasing across the Upper Midwest
The numbers from the latest U.S. Drought Monitor are not encouraging to farmers and water managers across the region. Overall, 27 percent of the Midwest region is now in drought status.
Rain chances remain limited this week, but the hot weather finally breaks some with more highs in the 70s and 80s versus all the 90s last week.
Temperatures stay above average Monday, but for most places, it will be noticeably cooler weather than the heat of Sunday.
