Wednesday begins with brutal cold and dangerous wind chills again, but ends milder with a new snowstorm impacting the state.
Greenland ice melting 7 times faster than in 1993
Greenland’s ice sheets melted 33 billion tons of water a year in 1993. In the last decade, the average skyrocketed to 254 billion tons of melt on average. That’s a seven-fold increase.
It only takes a little snow to make roads dangerous with colder temperatures.
Cold weather Tuesday and Wednesday will be followed by warming weather and snow for Thursday.

Snow done; subzero cold next
The first blast of subzero temperatures arrives for much of Minnesota.
Forecast models did a pretty good job with our Monday snow system.
After the snow moves out, dangerous cold to move in
The entire state will be below zero by Tuesday morning. The lowest temperatures will come Wednesday morning, with many places falling to minus 10 to minus 20.
Snow slows morning commute; deep freeze to follow
Snow will continue to clear out quickly across the state, with all except eastern Minnesota out of it by noon. The Twin Cities is expected to get between 2 to 4 inches, while the Duluth area could get another 6 to 10 inches.
