As wildfires spread across northeastern Minnesota, reporter Dan Kraker checked in with fire crews, community volunteers and those who lost their homes.
A break in the hot, dry weather is slowing the growth of several wildfires burning in northern Minnesota, which have scorched about 50 square miles and destroyed about 150 structures. More than 200 firefighters are now battling the fires, including four new elite hotshot crews that flew in from other parts of the country.
Fire crews are contending with another day of volatile fire conditions in northeast Minnesota on Tuesday, as they continue to battle large wildfires that have burned more than 20,000 acres and dozens of structures.

The Camp House Fire near Brimson has grown to 750 acres as of Monday morning. It was zero-percent contained as crews worked on the ground and from the air to douse the flames. Meanwhile, another large wildfire started Monday just a few miles away.
A fifth person has died following an intense fire that engulfed a four-story Milwaukee apartment building on Mother’s Day. Milwaukee fire officials did not immediately release details Monday about the victim. Further details about the blaze also weren’t released.
A fast-moving wildfire fueled by tinder-dry conditions and gusty winds prompted the evacuation of homes and cabins northeast of Duluth on Sunday. It was one of at least two large wildfires in Minnesota on Sunday.
A 67-year-old Brooklyn Park man is dead and five others sustained what the State Patrol described as non-life-threatening injuries during a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 35W southbound between U.S. Highway 10 in Shoreview and Mounds View and County Road I in Arden Hills Tuesday morning.
