Fire burns former Lake Street Kmart building in Minneapolis
Fire crews responded to the call at about 5 a.m. and found flames and thick smoke coming from the vacant Kmart department store at Lake and Nicollet, just west of Interstate 35W. The building was scheduled for demolition next March.

U.S. investigators have confirmed that a mechanical issue caused the seaplane crash that killed 10 people — including a Minnesota couple — off an island in Washington state last year.
The plane crashed Sunday evening shortly after taking off from Canyonlands Airfield about 15 miles (24 kilometers) north of Moab, Utah. The crash of the single-engine Piper plane was being investigated.
