Weekend forecast: Saturday snowstorm, quiet on Sunday
Snow lovers will like this weekend forecast. Snow spreads across much of Minnesota on Saturday, with the highest snow totals expected in the south. We have the updated weekend forecast.
According to retired University of Minnesota climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley, wide swaths of northeastern Minnesota have reported more than 40 inches of snow already this winter, while areas around Duluth in particular have seen more than 50 inches.
Cold Friday, then areas of heavy snow Saturday
Following cold weather Friday, temperatures turn more seasonable over the weekend, but that shift comes along with a snowstorm expected to bring over 6 inches of snow to portions of the state.
Much of Minnesota is seeing the coldest morning so far this January, and many places, including the Twin Cities, are likely to have the coldest highs as well.
