Second winter storm brings widespread snow and wind Tuesday
We are in the thick of the heaviest snow in the Twin Cities midday Tuesday. We’ve seen anywhere from 1 to 4 inches so far with another 2 to 3 on the way before snow slowly tapers Tuesday afternoon. Strong northwest winds are causing blowing and drifting of snow.
More widespread snow with second round Tuesday
Heavy snow fell much of the day across a large swath of central Minnesota up to Lake Superior. Many areas saw 6 to 10 inches, with the highest totals near Lake Superior, over a foot. Snow showers will continue north but a second round of snow moves into Minnesota bringing much more widespread accumulation on Tuesday.
First round of snow winds down, second round develops
The first of two rounds of snow brought several inches so far and over a half foot in places across central Minnesota into northern Wisconsin. A wintry mix, including freezing rain is possible late this afternoon/evening across portions of southeastern Minnesota. We’ll see snow lighten up overnight to the north but a second round brings more snow late in the night into early Tuesday.
Heavy snow for central Minnesota Monday, statewide Tuesday
Snow will largely be confined to central and northern Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin through the day Monday. Farther south, the Twin Cities can expect some scattered light snow showers, but little or no accumulation. Southeastern Minnesota could see a wintry mix late this afternoon/evening. Round two of snow Tuesday will affect most of Minnesota.
