Storms flare late, again on the Fourth
We’ll still be tracking scattered showers and non-severe thunderstorms for Independence Day. Saturday won’t be totally dry, necessarily, but at least we won’t have quite as much lightning as in recent days.
Hot rotisserie chicken soon could be among the foods eligible under federal food benefits
Congressional lawmakers are looking to add rotisserie chicken to the list of foods people can purchase with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Currently, the program excludes hot and pre-prepared foods.
Lynx's Miles wins second consecutive Rookie of the Month, Reeve named Coach of the Month
The Minnesota Lynx had an exciting mid-season week of accolades. Just a day after being named a starter for the All-Star Game, Olivia Miles was named the Kia WNBA Rookie of the Month for the second month in a row. Head coach Cheryl Reeve was also named WNBA Coach of the Month for June.

Beyond 250 years: Minnesota River flows through time and history
As the Declaration of Independence was being signed, the Minnesota River was known as Mni Sota Wakpa to the Dakota people. Congress affirmed the Dakota name in 1852. The Minnesota River would become the state’s namesake a few years later.
