Twin Cities mayors defy Trump on sanctuary city order

Under the order signed Wednesday, cities with policies against reporting undocumented immigrants to federal authorities could risk losing federal funding. Both Minneapolis and St. Paul could fall into that category.

Lawmakers back aid for Minnesotans hurt by health coverage cost hikes

The compromise bill takes $327 million from the budget reserve to give a 25 percent rebate to anyone who purchases coverage on the individual market for 2017. Gov. Mark Dayton is expected to sign it.

Dayton's two-year budget plan hikes spending by $1.2 billion

The general fund budget plan includes in new spending $1.2 billion and uses almost all of the projected $1.4 billion budget surplus, and a key health care proposal would spend relatively little in taxpayer money.
