Many Minnesotans will see the coldest night of winter Thursday as frigid air makes a brief return. Temperatures and wind chills will drop through the day Thursday as gusty northwest winds blow in the cold.
The cold air strikes again after its brief retreat. This time it’s only sticking around for about 36 hours. Gusty northwest winds will drop temperatures Thursday. Thursday night will be well below zero statewide.

Minnesota’s winter temperatures so far this season are running very close to average in the Twin Cities, even though December delivered extreme cold and January brought persistent warmth.
