Damage patterns indicate a relatively rare “satellite” tornado formed and revolved around the bigger Silver Lake tornado.
Sunday tornadoes; blissful forecast ahead
A cooler and drier air mass blows south from Canada the next few days. Dew points fall into the comfy 50s by late Monday. Highs return to the 80s later this week.
There were several confirmed tornado touchdowns in Minnesota late Sunday afternoon. Here are the details.
The NWS has issued a tornado watch, valid until 9 p.m. this Sunday, for portions of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. The Twin Cities metro area is included in the tornado watch.
Thunderstorms at times Sunday and Sunday night
Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see periods of rain and thunderstorms Sunday and Sunday night. Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible.
Saturday was definitely the nicer day of the weekend. Our Sunday will feature periods of rain with some embedded thunderstorms.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday for east-central Minnesota, including roughly the northeast half of the Twin Cities metro area. Tennis ball-sized hail has been reported in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
