New Minnesota law unscrambles egg policy for food banks; allows donations after 'sell by' date

Grocery stores and other food retailers in Minnesota can now donate eggs that are past their “sell by” or “best by” date to food banks. A new state law that took effect August 1, no longer makes it illegal to donate such eggs, even though they are still good and safe to eat long after that quality assurance date stamped on the carton.
