Cities and counties around the country want alternatives to jail and emergency rooms for people in a mental health crisis. Some, including Ramsey and Hennepin counties, are turning to Forensic Assertive Community Treatment, or FACT, teams which help people find the services they need.
Officer in fatal St. Paul shooting identified
The 31-year-old man who was fatally shot by a St. Paul police officer Sunday confronted the officer with a knife and ignored commands to drop it, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The BCA identified the officer as Steven Mattson, who has less than one year of service in the department.
