Warm, muggy Thursday; weekend may bring coolest August temps in 8 years
Thursday will be warm and muggy with sunshine. A cold front touches off showers and storms northwest to southeast late Thursday into Friday morning. Fall-like air moves in this weekend.

Get ready for a fantastic opening day at the Minnesota State Fair! With warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine on the way, Thursday’s shaping up to be the perfect day to enjoy all the fun, food and festivities. Here’s what the weather will look like hour by hour.
Above-normal temps through Thursday before a cool weekend
It will still be muggy Wednesday and Thursday, although not as humid as Tuesday. Areas of morning fog will burn off, giving way to sunshine. Much cooler air moves in this weekend. 
Warm, muggy overnight but cool air coming by the weekend
Dew points will drop a bit over the next 24 hours but the really dry, cool air moves in this weekend. Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than normal by Sunday. 
Surface high pressure brings drier, calmer weather
High pressure is bringing sunshine and dry weather after some early fog. Temperatures will be above normal through Thursday, but much cooler air arrives this weekend. 
Southern Minnesota soaked: 2 months of rain in just days
Southern Minnesota was soaked over the weekend as a series of slowly moving storm systems dumped multiple inches of rain across the region, with some areas receiving the equivalent of two months worth of precipitation in just a few days.
Continued showers keep flood watch active into early Monday
Continued showers will keep a flood watch active into early Monday, but the rain is expected to taper off later in the day. Drier conditions and sunshine are forecast to return by Monday afternoon, bringing some relief after a really soggy stretch.
Flood watch issued ahead of Sunday night rainfall
Heavy rain is expected to return late Sunday night, prompting a flood watch for portions of the state. Another round of showers and thunderstorms will move through the area, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall and possibly severe weather. Flash flooding, gusty winds, and localized downpours will be the main concerns heading into Monday.
Heavy rains and flash flooding drench parts of the state
Heavy rains continue to pour across the state, with rainfall amounts between 3-5 inches triggering flash flooding in several areas. More rain is expected later Sunday, some of which could be heavy and accompanied by gusty winds.
