Election Day preview; Open enrollment

Tomorrow is Election Day for many communities across Minnesota. Most polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Minnesota offers same-day registration, as long as you have proof of residence. Open enrollment for state health care plans started Saturday, and many Minnesotans are seeing steeper prices for coverage next year.

Fond du Lac Band resumes tradition of harvesting Lake Superior trout to continue culture, feed students

Lake trout were nearly wiped out in Lake Superior by the invasive sea lamprey. But a successful control project has helped bring the trout back from the brink. That’s allowing the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa to practice their treaty rights to harvest fish from the lake with nets — something they haven't done in over 150 years.
